Vision 2030 Update
Documented Progress (2024–2025)
Vision 2030 was built in response to real, measurable problems in our profession: compensation, retention, respect, and career pathways. In 2025, we focused on changing those conditions, not just talking about them.
As we close out 2025, here is an update on what we accomplished together so far.
Inspire the Next Generation
Growing the profession by recruiting prospective students and supporting current students
Recruitment & Awareness
- Built partnerships focused on recruiting students into the athletic training profession, supporting current students, and rewarding innovative educational programs.
- Co-hosted the 2025 High School Virtual Athletic Training Fair with the Association for Athletic Training Education, providing high school students and parents/guardians with:
- Direct exposure to the athletic training profession
- Program exploration opportunities
- Application and admissions guidance
- Direct exposure to the athletic training profession
- Expanded early awareness of athletic training as a healthcare career option among prospective students and families.
Supporting Students & Pathways
- Partnered with the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education Foundation to award four 2025 Pathway to Practice and Student Diversity Award recipients, recognizing innovation and diversity in the educational pipeline.
- Awarded 3 Programs with Quality Improvement and Innovation Awards highlighting the programs focus on
- Collaborated with CAATE, Athletic Trainers in the Physician Practice Setting, and AATE to host the CAATE Residency & Fellowship Virtual Open House, increasing awareness and participation in post-professional training pathways.
- Elevated residency and fellowship programs as structured, supported transition-to-practice options for athletic training graduates.
- Ensured athletic trainer representation in youth sports safety leadership by serving on the Pop Warner Medical Advisory Board.
Empower Current Athletic Trainers
Supporting currently practicing athletic trainers financially, professionally, and personally
Financial Empowerment & Compensation
- Eliminated the 3% transaction fee on athletic trainer payments through operational efficiencies, returning more earnings directly to clinicians.
- Published the 2024 Athletic Training Compensation Survey White Paper, creating one of the most comprehensive compensation resources in the profession.
- Developed practical advocacy materials from compensation data to support athletic trainers in job evaluation and negotiation, including:
- Job offer comparison sheets
- Benefits explainers
- Negotiation tips
- Interview question guides
- Job offer comparison sheets
- Demonstrated measurable progress in compensation standards across the platform:
- Average hourly PRN rate increased from $49/hour to $52/hour
- Average contract services rate increased from $56/hour to $57/hour
- Average hourly PRN rate increased from $49/hour to $52/hour
Career Development & Education
- Created and delivered the “Dollars and Sense” presentation using Compensation Survey data, focused on:
- Interviewing Tips and Questions
- Hiring simulations
- Negotiation
- Benefits literacy
- Delivered the workshop through:
- Temple University CEU Program
- St. Luke’s Healthcare System
- Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association Conference
- Supported athletic trainers seeking new roles, advancement, or increased confidence navigating the job market.
Mentorship & Retention
- Launched the first year of AT4 America, a structured transition-to-practice and mentorship program.
- Provided participants with:
- Supportive onboarding
- Mentorship from peers and senior athletic trainers
- Financial incentives and competitive compensation advocacy
- Supportive onboarding
- Achieved 100% participant-reported improvements in confidence, job satisfaction, role clarity, and team integration among first-year AT4America participants.
Engage Key Stakeholders
Educating the public and those who hire athletic trainers about the profession
Employer, Organization & Facility Education
- Partnered with US Club Soccer to provide educational materials for clubs and newsletters, reinforcing the role of athletic trainers in athlete safety and risk management.
- Collaborated with UTR Sports to support education around safe competition environments and appropriate medical coverage.
- Developed and distributed facility-specific educational resources for partner venues, including:
- Participant-facing safety materials
- Event medical coverage guidance
- Tools to help facilities run safer tournaments and events
- Participant-facing safety materials
- Increased awareness among employers, organizers, and facility operators of why athletic trainers are essential healthcare professionals, not optional staffing.
This progress happened because athletic trainers participated, gave honest feedback, and pushed for better. Vision 2030 is not something Go4 is doing to the profession. It is something we are building with it.
