Share your best Moment / Story / Anecdote as an AT: I had an athlete, who was originally from France, chase a ball down the basketball court. She landed awkwardly and hard on her elbow causing a dislocation. I was a student AT at the time and only one of the ATs were on the sideline. After calling EMS, I got the privilege of riding to the hospital with her, filling out paperwork and staying by her side for about 3 hours in the hospital. She had no social security number and her parents only spoke French. The AT that was away at the time was able to coach me through the phone on what to do, what forms I needed to fill out, school’s insurance paperwork, etc. At the end of the night, the coach and AT staff applauded me for what I had done. Needless to say, I was scared to death with it being my first time dealing with a major injury.
