An undergraduate Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Athletic Training program is the absolute minimum of education to become an athletic trainer.
However, it is a highly competitive field, and many candidates will also undertake postgraduate education to Master’s level; all accredited programs are currently updating their programs to consist of a 6-year expedited Master’s program for Athletic Training. There is an expectation that you maintain continuous learning in order to stay certified by completing continuing education units yearly.
