About the Team

Go4 is a sports safety and intelligence platform. We place credentialed Athletic Trainers at events and venues. Every shift produces structured data: a verified credential check, a venue-specific emergency action plan, and a clinical record filed on site. More than 26,000 Athletic Trainers work through Go4, serving more than 5,000 schools, colleges, leagues, and facilities across all 50 states. We work remotely and bring the whole company together in person four times a year.

The coverage is the service and the record is the asset. Go4 is becoming the authoritative record of who provided medical coverage, where, and to what standard. That record is the data layer that makes credentialing, governance, and insurance underwriting possible at scale.

We are building our first internal product and engineering organization to deliver V2 of the Go4 platform. V2 is not a rewrite of a side project. It is the evolution of a live, revenue-generating platform into a modern suite of applications, services, and data.

About the Role

This role owns the client-side architecture and engineering quality of Go4’s React and React Native applications across web, iOS, and Android.

You will join while V2 is still being designed, which gives you the chance to set application architecture, frontend standards, reusable patterns, testing practices, and development workflow before there is anything to undo. Your first major responsibility is to evaluate what our external design partner delivers, adapt it into Go4-owned engineering standards, and turn it into a production-quality foundation.

This is a hands-on senior engineering position for someone who enjoys both setting technical direction and shipping product.

You would join Go4’s first internal product and engineering cohort alongside the Senior Solutions Engineer, the Lead Application Engineer, the Product Manager, and the Product Analyst, under our Head of Technology. The four of you arrive together, evaluate the platform vision, and set the standards everyone after you inherits.

In this role, you will:

  • Own React and React Native architecture across Go4’s web, iOS, and Android experiences.
  • Establish frontend engineering standards, project structure, development workflow, testing expectations, and release practice.
  • Evaluate the externally delivered design and application code and uplift it into a maintainable codebase that Go4 owns.
  • Establish reusable component and design system patterns that hold across all four application surfaces.
  • Lead development of the Athletic Trainer web and mobile experiences, then the Event Organizer experiences as their designs complete.
  • Collaborate with backend engineering on API contracts, and build against simulated endpoints where that lets application work proceed concurrently.
  • Own frontend performance, error handling, accessibility, instrumentation, and production readiness.
  • Establish application telemetry that makes both user behavior and technical failures visible.
  • Lead app store and mobile release readiness, and take all four surfaces through integration, device testing, and production hardening.
  • Help recruit and mentor the application engineers who come next.

What the first year looks like:

We have already written the scorecard you would be reviewed against. It has four objectives, and they carry from this description into your 2027 performance review unchanged.

  • Application architecture and standards established, and the external code is ours. What the design partner delivered is evaluated, uplifted, and maintainable.
  • Athletic Trainer web and mobile delivered. The first two surfaces reach feature completion against the contracts.
  • Event Organizer web and mobile delivered, and all four surfaces hardened. Integration, device testing, and app store readiness complete.
  • Quality foundations that outlast the launch. Testing, telemetry, performance, and release practice are in place rather than promised.

You might thrive in this role if you:

  • Have substantial professional experience with React, TypeScript, modern frontend architecture, and component or design systems.
  • Have strong React Native experience and real mobile instincts, including iOS and Android release lifecycles, native integrations, push notifications, secure storage, and device-specific behavior.
  • Have worked across both React web and React Native mobile in the same role, which is the shape of this job.
  • Have built API driven applications and can reason about what the user sees when the API is slow, unavailable, or partially failing.
  • Have established automated frontend testing, CI/CD, and release workflow rather than inheriting them.
  • Have owned frontend observability, error monitoring, and performance work in production.
  • Have inherited imperfect or rapidly built application code and turned it into something durable.
  • Have strong product and user experience instincts, and will ask whether a workflow is unnecessarily complicated before building it.
  • Use AI in your current work and can describe how the changes in available tooling has impacted specific workflows, solution design principals, and approach to consumer software. We currently run on Claude, and are continuously adapting our workflows to empower a small team to cover this scope by way of that leverage.

Also valuable:

  • Experience at a growth-stage SaaS, marketplace, consumer mobile, workforce, healthtech, or sports technology company.
  • Experience with applications carrying real operational complexity, such as payments, scheduling, identity, messaging, geographic workflows, or notifications.
  • Experience establishing a design system that outlived the project it was built for.
  • Experience mentoring application engineers.

About Go4

Go4’s purpose is to become the record of who provided medical coverage, where, and to what standard. Every athlete deserves a credentialed professional on site, and every organization deserves proof that one was there.

Compensation

$145K to $175K plus equity

The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to the salary range listed above, total compensation includes a meaningful equity grant, an annual performance bonus, and the following benefits.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family, with Go4 contributing 50% of premium cost.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Flexible, uncapped paid time off, plus ten paid company holidays.
  • Fully remote, anywhere in the U.S., with core collaboration hours of 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM ET, and four company gatherings a year.

We are building our first internal product and engineering organization, and we view this team differently from hires joining an established department. We structure compensation to give early team members real participation in the long-term value they help create, and we expect the responsibilities and leadership opportunities in this role to expand as the platform and the organization do.

More details about our benefits are available to candidates during the hiring process. This role is at-will and Go4 reserves the right to modify base pay and other compensation components at any time based on individual performance, team or company results, or market conditions.

How to Apply

Complete the application form below.

Our process is four conversations. You will have a 30-minute screen with our CEO, a 60-minute technical conversation with our Head of Technology, an hour with the product and engineering cohort you would work alongside, and a final hour with our CEO and COO together.

As part of the hiring process, there will be a short take-home exercise after the Technical conversation with our Head of Technology, which we’ll review in the next conversation.
