What is a certified Athletic Trainer?
Certified athletic trainers are a type of medical professionals recognized by the American Medical Association that work primarily, but not exclusively, with athletes. They go through similar high-level training and education as occupational and physical therapists. They are highly qualified and multi-skilled, and can both treat sports-related injuries as well as create recovery programs for athletes. They must have at minimum a bachelors degree from an accredited athletic training program, and pass the Board of Certification exam.
