Name: Powerlyte

Flavor: Tropical Frutas

Place Of Origin: Coppel TX

Price Point: $1

Promise On The Bottle: Replenishes Zinc and Electrolytes

Color: A light shade of neon brown.

Aroma: The vapors wafting from the glass are not so much ‘smelled’ as they are felt, like paint thinner spilled on a garage floor, clearing the nose of both mucous and follicles.

Flavor notes: As advertised, zinc greets the tongue with a quick hello before giving way to the sweet, sweet flavor of those little hard candy balls wrapped in cellophane and found in a grandmother’s purse that vary in color, but not in flavor. Frutas? Perhaps. Tropical frutas? Perhaps not…

However, to be fair, while I have tried several tropical frutas—papaya, guava, pineapple—I have not tried them all. Someone with a more experienced palette might sip and exclaim, “Durian! “ or “Rambutan!” or “Spiders!”

Food pairing: Chilled olive loaf straight from the pack.

Sport pairing: Trying to pitch a half-eaten wad of cotton candy into an overflowing trashcan surrounded by yellow jackets at a regional amusement park on a hot summer day.

Final Thoughts: They did not skimp on the dextrose.
